August 20, 2010: The U.S. Army corps of Engineers is
holding a series of “scoping” meetings for the
Missouri River Authorized Purpose Study (MRAPS)
throughout the Missouri River Basin and Lower Mississippi
River Basin through August of 2010. Please see

these meetings and other information regarding this
important study.
September
22-23, 2010: The next meeting of the Missouri River
Association of States and Tribes (MoRAST) is scheduled
for September 22-23, 2010 at the Rushmore Holiday Inn in
Rapid City, South Dakota. The meeting is scheduled to begin
at 1:15 p.m. on September 22 and conclude by 2:30 PM on
September 23, 2010. Please

room. There is no registration fee required for
attending the MoRAST meeting, but advance notice of
attendance is requested so we can make adequate plans
for meeting arrangements, break refreshments, etc. If
possible, please let us know of your plans by August 22 when
you make your reservations, so we can finalize arrangements

March 8, 2011:
The spring 2011 MoRAST meeting is scheduled as an all
day meeting on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Lied Lodge and
Conference Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska, just prior to
the MRNRC Annual Missouri River Conference and BiOP Forum.
March 9-11, 2011:
The 2011 MRNRC Annual Missouri River Conference and BiOP
Forum will be held at the Lied Lodge and Conference
Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska on March 9-11, 2011.

March 16, 2010:
MoRAST met on March 16, 2010 at the Lied Lodge and
Conference Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska. For copies of

Meeting summary: The meeting
included a special appearance by Brigadier General John
McMahon, Commander, Northwestern Division, USACE, as well as
several other guest speakers. A significant portion of the
meeting focused on issues related to the Missouri River
Authorized Purposes Study (MRAPS),
www.mraps.org. In addition to updates on other timely
issues of importance, the meeting included MoRAST business
sessions to elect officers for 2010, adopt the 2012 budget,
approve a revised Congressional Action Plan and deal with
other issues. The 2010 officers are: Chair: Michael
J. Hayden, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife
and Parks; Vice Chair: Todd Sando, Assistant State
Engineer, North Dakota Water Commission; Secretary:
Sue Lowry, Administrator, Interstate Streams Division,
Wyoming State Engineer’s Office; Treasurer: Kirk
Nelson, Assistant Director, Nebraska Game and Parks
Commission and At Large Member of the Executive
Committee: Rodney Bordeaux, President of the Rosebud
Sioux Tribe.
March 17-19,
2010: The Annual Missouri River Conference and BiOP
Forum, sponsored by the Missouri River Natural Resources
Committee, was held at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center
in Nebraska City, Nebraska on March 17-19, 2010. The
conference theme was “A Climate for Change”. The conference
